The blark is back. It probably never really went away, but I just needed to see if the world would end if I missed a day of posting on my blog.
Then there was the ‘stage fright’ issue. The one where you’ve been dancing up a storm all night and then somewhere around song number 27 you remember that people are watching. Suddenly you just can’t dance no more.
I’ve been reading a few posts here and there lately about ‘why I blog’. The posts have been varied and special and very inspirational, yet I’ve been strangely quiet in the comment box. The reason I’ve been silent is that I don’t have a fancy pants answer to the question.
Why do I blog?
I dunno.
Shrug.
I just like it.
I thought maybe that wasn’t a good enough reason, but now I realise that it’s a plenty-good-enough reason for me.
One change. My new blog slogan: Same Maxabella, Less Often. Yep, I like the sound of that.
Corinne says
Because I have to. Ever since I started my blog, a strange thing happened. I just have to do it. It keeps me sane, it helps me gather my thoughts, it helps me see who I am, it helps define ‘me’ away from being a mum wife daughter friend sister.
I’m glad you’ve got your blark back! I love me a bit of Maxabella!

because it’s fun. Because it’s my ‘me’ time
Jane says
Well everyone has their own specific answer to this one. I think the worst is if you do it out of some sense of obligation. Or pressure.
I do it because I like to write and I like to bang on about things. 500 readers or 5, does not make that much difference to me.
What I know is that I just cannot, with children and a job, do it everyday. Once I realised that it all came together a bit better. Glad you are feeling good about it now. xo

I used to blog to get me through my dark times – it was my way of coping with 11 years ttc and 8 miscarriages. Some days it worked, others it didn’t – what it did do though, was open me up to a whole online community of people going through similar things to me, something I’m so grateful for.
I blog now for me. For no one else. I love that I have faithful readers. If people don’t like me, they don’t have to read me.
Blogging has helped my soul breath again, especially now as I embark on the journey that my life is to be rather than what I want it to be, something I’m grateful for every single day.

I’ve been thinking about the same thing lately…and I’m not sure I know. I think my reasons have changed over the years, and maybe that’s why I’m questioning it now. Righto, better go off and figure this out…!

I was only thinking about this recently. I started a blog to become more creative and it is certainly doing that. I have only been blogging for a couple of months and I am really enjoying it. It is helping to open up my creativity. I can already see changes in my photos, my writing is more open (still room for improvement). I am looking at the world around me in different ways. I have connected up to a wonderful, friendly, creativity blog community I feel very fortunate. Charmaine

I blog for the very same reason you do!
Cant work it out? Just do….

I agree with fairchildstreet, it helps in the creativity & getting better with images. the blogging community is also very inspirational & darn friendly too!
if i feel pressured I fail so i don’t pressure myself.
i want to be able to enjoy it rather than feel obligated i have to do it.
hope you find your rhythm but please continue what you are doing, even if it’s less often, i LOVE visiting you ♥

SNAP! I wrote about the very same thing today. Great minds and all that…
I write for me when it comes down to it. I like to do it, I like the interaction, I like forcing myself to take photos of the smaller things in life, write about them, and store them away for some other time {who knows when for though}. The readers and comments along the way are just the icing on a fun cake!
Glad to have you back…I’ll take it whenever it is on offer, less or more.

Welcome back! I blog because I can. Because it’s there? Something like that.
Jodie at Mummy Mayhem says
So lovely to have you back, hon.
I blog because I love to communicate. I love to write, but mostly I love to communicate. I always say to people, “It’s like a hobby for me.”
Some people collect stamps. Others, like my husband, love to go cycling and love to cycle up high mountains in France. We don’t always ‘get’ why some people do the things they do. We just have to accept that we all have our own interests that make us happy. Hubby has no grand ideas to become a Tour de France cyclist, nor do I think I’m going to become some great, famous writer some day. We just enjoy what we do and we do it. Cos life is here to live, girl!
Keep doing what you do. If you enjoy it and people enjoy it…it’s win/win.

I put this question out there myself a month ago. Having only been blogging since July, I’ve been trying to find my groove and get an idea what the whole purpose of it is. I can’t explain it, but all I know now is that my blog is a part of me, and something I love to do. Apart from not being able to put into words why I blog, I can’t explain why I love some other blogs so much either, but yours I adore. xx

Good to see you back!

Because I like it too! Also, I live the community that surrounds blogging and I love all that I have learned from reading other blogs. It is just a great little world in here.

I’m with Corinne. Plus it helps me to record my kids like a journal. It helps me to remember, because one day I know I will forget. Blogging helps me to be more reflective, otherwise I never stop for anything. Kind of like cheap therapy.
You blog when you can. It’s better to have quality, than quality. I love a bit of Maxabella Loves… but only if she’s willing… x

I like writing, I want to get better at it so I need to practice, I have family all over the world and they seem to enjoy hearing our news, I never imagined I would ‘meet’ all these interesting people who inspire me when I read about their lives… the list goes on and on and on.
I just love it!

I blog for a few reasons. I like to document how I am going as a parent and it helps keep me accountable. I like to share my wins and losses with others, so they can perhaps glean some useful info from it. I like to have conversations with people, blogging is a lot like a conversation.
Lucy says
It helps me. It just helps.
Glad to see you and your blark back. xx

hmm I dunno! I guess I began as a journal type thing of recording our memories. Now it feels like a little community of friends that I am getting to know and keep in touch with. Maybe too its just a bit of ‘downtime’ from daily life to ‘talk’ to other adults about similar stuff, or not!

I blog cause I like to swear on the internet.
Cause someone told me I couldn’t.

I used to blog because it meant that I got to whinge a lot to people that I hadn’t ever met. Now members of my family and some friends read my blog, so I’m constantly saying “I’m fine. Really, it’s OK”.
Maybe I shouldn’t whinge so much.
Or start a new blog they don’t know about.

Brenda linked on AMB today an article about blogging, suggesting less posts is best, not everyday. Good for me to hear as I only post when I have the time and feel the blog love flowing. The last two days I have been hit with a bug, so reading other blogs has been a joy sitting in my sick bed. But writing on my own has not been considered.
Why do I write, no idea, it just kinda happened. Some weeks I have stuff to share, some I don’t.

I blog because I realised that I was boring people around me senseless with my blabber about gardening and children and getting a reputation for posting on Facebook all the time, so I figured a blog was a harmless way of telling *someone* what was on my mind, and they wouldn’t have to be tactful about switching off when they had enough of my blabber
Which all goes to explain why I have very few followers! 😉
It’s just my mental filing cabinet’s home away from home, and nice to know the occasional person reads it.

just because I want to, really, and it helps me see things differently 🙂

Brilliant post! So interesting to read all of the reasons why people blog. I love that everyone is different. I blog for so many reasons but really it is therapy! To connect with a community of likeminded people, a way of expressing ‘me’, to see myself reflected back to me, a challenge to be more creative, a great source of ideas. my ‘me’ time. it keeps me sane – who would have thought you could get that out of a blog!
P.S. I think what I like most about your blog and why I think you do it so well and it stands out from others is that it is like a conversation. You draw people into your conversation by asking questions and including topics that are easy to interact with. It is always very honest and down to earth and that is so relatable. The pretty pictures and the funky layout don’t hurt either 😉
I hit a similar thing a few months ago. Lost my blark, now it comes whenever I can manage. I still love it though.

hmmm…I blog to connect and deal with stress aloud. I blog because reading about people going thru the same difficulties really helps me deal with everything. I hope my blog helps someone, too.
