Cappers Kazoo finally consented to a hair cut a week or so ago. About half her hair got lopped off and it’s changed my life. Time in the morning that I used to spend hair wrangling I now spend making intricate works of art out of clay and wire. Well, not really, but I no longer feel quite so guilty for spending an extra 10 minutes in bed. A couple of brushes, a ponytail and out she goes.
So, this week I’m grateful for…
166. Ribbons – I’ve come to realise that there isn’t a knot in existence that a sweet little ribbon can’t deflect. A little girl with a ribbon looks cared for.
167. Two Minute Noodles – they might actually take more like four minutes in the microwave on high, but they’re just really yummy, especially if you melt some cheese on them to really amp up the fattyboomsticks pleasure. Maybe it’s ‘two minutes to finish eating them’ noodles?
168. Fattyboomsticks – it’s just a really great, almost onomatopoeic word.
So, what’s making you smile today? Add your Grateful post to the list below (and please, we love you, but it really does matter that your post is one about being grateful, not just a random), add the button (grab the code from my sidebar and paste it into your post) and pretty-please add a link back to me. Then pop over to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.

You just took me spiraling back through the decades to a time when it was ‘my’ hair being wrangled into ribbons [so tight were my pigtails on more than one occasion that I swear my eyelids became squinty slits], two minutes noodles were a luxury on cold afternoons, and Fattyboomsticks was a name my little brother often called me before being punched in the arm….again!
Happy weekend Lovely,
xx Felicity

Love your made up words! And next time try 2 minute noodles with some peanut butter… instant Satay!!!!
Tas says
fattyboomsticks…I am sure that can find a place in my daily vocabulary.
I think that 2 minutes refers to the amount of time it takes 3 young kids to spread them all over themselves, the table and the floor, as well as the dog and anything else within throwing distance. At least that’s what takes 2 minutes in our house…
Amy says
Two minute noodles with cheese??? I totally have to try that.
I long to chop all of Mahli’s hair off, but don’t have the guts to do it. Here hair is long and fine. You wouldn’t think it would knot easily, but god dammit it does and can be so painful to do, for both her and me…

One of my go-to uni meals (and I still often have it for lunch now) is 2 min noodles with a tin of tuna/salmon, soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce and a whole heap of steamed veg!
Miss Pink says
I know so many people who eat 2min noodles with cheese.
I don’t like it!
Strange huh?
Ahhh I love ribbons. Sadly I only have my hair to “girl up”.
Kymmie says
Oooh, I’m in love with onomatopoea too, and that one is a lovely one.
Yes, we do 2 minutes to finish noodles with cheese, corn, chopped tomatoes and canned tuna. A whole meal. (And a whole not very often too).
Aaah, hair cuts. I just had two boy hair cuts, and already my life is easier (and it wasn’t half as long as Cappers’). No more screaming. Delight.
Happy Grateful Day Bron. xx

I don’t have a blog to post, but honestly, I’m grateful for that image you used. How gorgeous is that hair? As someone who has never been able to grow their hair past their shoulders…hair envy.
Leanne says
I only have boys(old enough to do their own hair)and they don’t brush or comb it. Lucky if it sees shampoo! Last time I took Charlie to get a haircut they cut a knot out of it.
Thanks for doing the grateful thing each week xx

I have just recently introduced the joy of 2 minute noodles to the kids! What a great, easy meal!! We just have them with butter. Must try the cheese thing!

My goodness what gorgeous hair but thank goodness none of my girls have hair like that that I might actually have to deal with! We only eat 2 minute noodles rarely…I find i cook them only for them to be left uneaten, not really sure why. I’m linking up for the forst time this week…and commenting…but I do actually adore your writing…i mostly just reply in my head ๐ Thankyou for making me smile and nod. Tatum xx

My daughter has blonde hair and loves the movie “tangled’ I cant wait for her hair to grow some more so I can put ribbons in like the movie. (i have short hair that is always spiky, no pretty stuff in there). Two minutes noodles – I always knew it was false advertising!

Ok but my my bigger question is how do you get a ribbon to stay in…. are you tying it to a hairband already in place?… ribbons are girly personified…love them even though I am far from a girly girl xx
Mum's the word says

I only have the one girl but have never thought to put ribbons in her hair…now she is as an age where she wouldn’t even let me.

Posie Patchwork says
Oh yes, with 3 girls, hair cuts are essential to tame the mane!! Luckily the one with waist length platinum hair – she earned it, like Marcia Brady she spends hours longingly looking at herself while grooming her blonde lochs. I love my son, just that little bit extra every morning for his super short hair, bed hair, whatever, never a bad hair day for a boy in year 2.
Fatty Boom Sticks, i think we used to say Fatty Boom Bah?? No Sticks, OMG, love them both, right up there with “toushy” when someone had the right to be angry about something or were just plain nuts, haven’t used that for a while, well, maybe a week. Love Posie

Ribbons are the best aren’t they! I pop a ribbon in ella’s hair monday through to friday. I just think they look so pretty even when her hair is full of knots! Fattyboomsticks….haven’t heard that for years! Have a lovely weekend. xxx

I’m with you on the ribbons! I love them, I secretly can’t stop buying them and then just storing them away?! But they do make a little girl look spiffy. Glad to hear the haircut mission has been completed!

fattyboomsticks is a really great word. I love how it feels when I say it aloud!
As someone who still battles with the 10 7 a half year old Green Eyed Girl, I love the idea of no tangles… maybe, one day! xxx
Miss Kitty-Cat says
Love fattyboomsticks. Best word ever.
I have curly hair so imagine I’ll be having those hair brushing battles sooner than I would like with little miss kitty. Oddly I am looking forward to them. Likely I will hate them when they actually arrive.
I haven’t had two minute noodles in forever…

Sannah says
When my 3rd baby was born, being my first girl, I had dreams and aspirations of doing her hair in braids, with ribbons adorning it. How wrong was I? At two and a half, she won’t have a piece of it. Her hair is a mess of uncontrollable curls, and she won’t let me near it! Hopefully by school age we may have developed some sort of system of control, otherwise we might need to snip her hair (and my dreams of ribbons!).
Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog! Hope you had a lovely weekend!
xx Sannah

When it came to Miss medium’s haircut a compromise was reached. Half her hair was cut off in exchange for a new fringe. Bliss. And ftr the nit factor also decreased significantly as well. Much to be grateful for I agree ๐
