Are you ready to keep flying on our World Blog Tour 2013? Last time’s stopovers jumped us all the way to Babyspace, so that’s where we’ll set off from today. Bron very thoughtfully has a “links” page and I closed my eyes and randomly clicked on…
Now, as soon as I looked I just knew that Katie’s Skunkboy blog is a ‘bigger blog’. I’m not entirely sure why I instantly knew this, but something always tells you. There is a confidence about a bigger blog that is a dead giveaway to me. Skunkboy falls into my “What I Wore When I Was Vintage Shopping In My Clogs With My Recycled Camera And My Impossibly On-Trend Kids” category of blogging (I have my own blogging categories… I will share them as we go!). Katie is absolutely gorgeous – that hair, that ink, that style – and her life seems sublime. I feel like I need to click away before I accidentally slash my wrists.
Katie’s “Blogs” page is substantial and full of other Katies. I’m not surprised to see that she is besties with those very marvellous but a little daunting A Beautiful Mess girls. I decide to avoid the “Besties” and “Inspiration” categories and instead click on a “Mamas” blog…
The Friendly Fox has a shop selling rather cute (vintage, natch) clothes and her blog is nice and relaxed. The “About” page is closed to non-invited readers, but I’ve learned that the author of The Friendly Fox is pregnant with baby # 2, has recently moved house and her son Jacob is enjoying the new place. So, all in all, this is a ‘My Enviable, Edited Life’ kind of blog and I’m quite certain there will be pictures of what the blogger wore to a blogging event in here somewhere. Luckily a terrific post on being bilingual and a truly friendly face shows that there is meat on these fluffy bones to gnaw on if we popped back for a longer visit.
The Friendly Fox has a suspiciously similar blog list to Skunkboy’s and just when I’m afraid I’m going to be stuck in ‘My Overstyled Life‘ blogging territory for way too long along comes…
Sheena from The Little Red House is a cool lady with a strong, bubbly voice and lots of interesting things to say about life and living. Her post about Summertime living reminds us to slow down, work hard and play often – which isn’t exactly original but it does bear reminding. Sheena does really good DIYs that I reckon most of us could tackle without tears, shares some great recipes full of American home cooking classics and loves being outside as often as possible. I think you will like Sheena a lot, I certainly did.
Sheena’s blogroll is packed with blog names like ‘Nectar and Light’ and ‘Vanilla and Lace’ – even without a visual I just know these blogs will fall into the ‘Made Up Whimsy And Endless Sunshine Out My Ass’ category of blogging, so it is with some reluctance that I click on through to…
… The Flybird which seems to be mostly lots and lots and lots of beautiful photos of (another) Katie prancing on the beach randomly interspersed with reflections on the situation in Haiti. I don’t understand.
So, I’ll stop the bus right here this time. And, if it’s okay with you, I’ll start somewhere completely new next time… As much as I really love her photography, I don’t even want to look at Katie’s blogroll seeing as I just learned that she has a pet chameleon named Gary.
Do you also have your own system for categorising blogs? Or is that just me?
