I ducked quite a few punches when our Blog World Tour headed into forced whimsical territory last time. I’m always quite amazed when people are shocked when I’m so blunt about things. I just call ’em as I see them and most of the time there’s much to love but some of the time there is much to poke fun at. You blog, you put it out there, I’m looking, I’m forming an opinion. Being able to have a giggle at others (and especially at yourself) is so critical to a good life, don’t you think? I always treasure the way Sophie from Her Library Adventures reacted to a dig I took at ‘cutie pie vintage’ bloggers. She’s gold.
Anyway, let’s get back on the road.
I clearly can’t go back to The Flybird to start our next leg, so instead I’m going to start at Sophie’s.
Sophie from Her Library Adventures is having a baaaby. Any minute now – stay tuned! It’s all very exciting and she is quite possibly the cutest pregnant lady on the internet right now. You know what? She’s pretty much one of the cutest people on the internet full stop. Even though I’m not especially into vintage op shopping or posing in my clothes or just about any of the things that Sophie is into, I rarely miss a post. There is just something about Sophie… that’s her image at the top of this post and it links to her recipe for white chocolate and macadamia bikkies. Nice!
Sophie has a ‘Daily Reads’ page on her blog, so over I go and I weep because I think once upon a time I was on Sophie’s Daily Reads, but she’s ditched me. Sigh, I used to be so much more interesting. Anyway, the blog that catches my eye is…
I know Rachel’s Tea with Lucy rather well. She takes lovely, fresh pictures of her three kids (including newborn cutie Oscar – Rachel wrote a lovely post about ‘The first 40 days’ that I think would be very comforting to any newborn mum). There’s a lot going on at Rachel’s place and she doesn’t blog as regularly as she used to. Man, we can all relate to that, right?
Rachel’s blog roll mainly contains bloggers that are new to me. The one that stood out to me the most was…
The road is home is one of those ‘softly softly’ blogs – Che and Fidel and Little Brown Wren are two that I’m really familiar with. I really love this kind of blogging; life woven into a narrative poem. It’s storytelling through feeling and at times it seems almost surreal (it particularly feels surreal when the writing is bad, but that’s not the case here). I dare you to read about the home birth of daughter Alba Joy Firebrace and not get a little tear – even as you’re rolling your eyes because of course a kid called Alba Joy Firebrace was delivered at home.
No blog roll for The road is home so I’m heading back to Tea With Lucy. Next I click on a favourite of mine.
Do you know Mel from Coal Valley View? She’s such a sweetie. Every time I see her sunny, smiling face it makes me a little bit happier. Mel has five young kids (yep, five) and blogs about life on the land in Tasmania with four boys (including identical twins) and a girl. Mel is a little bit arty, a little bit crafty and a whole lot of fun.
Mel doesn’t have a blog roll either. Lots and lots of blogs don’t seem to have them any more. Wah! I will have to go back to Tea with Lucy again and see where we go this time. I closed my eyes and clicked and…
I know Michelle’s blog Hugo and Elsa because she’s written for Pip on JustB many times and I’ve repubbed her on Village Voices. Michelle is an amazing cook and makes her own brand of jam called Apple Town. How cool is that? Actually, ‘warm’ is a word I think better describes Michelle. If warm was cool…
Michelle has a gigantic blog roll on her front page that I could honestly wade through all day. Her fine curating skills coming to the fore (she works for Mona in the summertime). Here’s where her eye takes me…
Hop Skip Jump is just such a sweet, sweet place to visit. Fiona is a wearer of the clever crafty clogs and she has a book and lovely patterns to share. She also has cute kids who go apple picking and get cute owl cupcakes made for them but that all happened a while ago ‘cos Fiona seems to be an occasional blogger. Which is alright by me!
Like Michelle, Fiona is also very generous with her blog love – another gorgeous list of yummy blogs to take a wander through with a cuppa one day. For our last stop on the Blog Tour today, we’re heading over to…
I’ve never been to Christie’s Pigeon Pair before, but I honestly can’t tell you how I missed her blog. She participated in Lexi’s ‘Being the Mother of a Son’ project back in June, which I absolutely loved and I thought I’d read all of the posts, but obviously not. Christie seems to occasionally take pics for Jodi’s 52 A Portrait a Week project, which I also participate in… AND did My Creative Space with Kootoyoo when it was on VV, but, nope, haven’t found her. So, we clearly have a lot in common, but it seems Christie hasn’t blogged since June, so I hope I’m not too late!
♥
That’s it for us this leg of the Blog World Tour, folks.
