There’s a little cove tucked in between craggy rocks that looks just a little bit scary from the white sandy beaches that lie on either side. Only the intrepid venture over the rocks to find it. But we know the hidden way in from the road.
We call it Morning Beach because we went there every morning when we holidayed for a week at Bart’s mate’s place. Mornings filled with soft, squelchy sand, teaming rockpools, leaning trees and, everywhere, the shining water, laid out like turquoise silk, waiting to be sewn.
Mornings stretching into lunch time, idly drawing love hearts with my toes in the cool sand. Filled all up with the sound of my children splashing and calling out, “mum, mum, look at me!”
I’m looking.
Do you have a hidden place you like to go?
