If you’ve read this month’s newsletter you will know that I’m currently mad about cacti. This will please my father very much as he has always had a fondness for the prickly ones (I’m certain there is no play on words going on in that sentence). He will also find my new obsession hi.larious.
Back in the dark ages when I was about seven, I sat on a cactus. True story. Dad was transporting his latest, sadly very large, prize cactus in the back of our Kingswood station wagon and I had the great idea to throw myself over the back seat and onto it. Unintentionally, of course. I’m sure if I knew the darn cactus was in there I would never have leapt on top of it with such abandon. Mum and dad were left plucking prickles out of my sore bottom for days. This is not one of my fondest memories.
Instead, let’s be inspired by Inspired by Charm and make ourselves a safe, non-scratchy clay cactus garden. It’s so cute and something even the kids couldn’t make too much of a mess of…
