When you blog, you are never lonely. Friendly banter, a wise revelation, kind words or an inspiring chat are never far away. This is what blogging is for me – coming together with beautiful women (for we are mostly women in my circles) to share creatively, to encourage, to support and, no doubt about it, to compare and be inspired. This Weekend Rewind is a place where we all meet up and it’s lovely to have a space to do that – to share our best bits with each other. For me there isn’t a more welcoming community than the blogging community. Some of it is air kissing, I know, but most of it is fully-fledged cheek kissing and I love that.
Which is why I am grateful that this weekend I am travelling up to Melbs to go to the Kidspot Voices of 2014 gala and kiss some of the best cheeks going. Blogger cheeks are extra nice. Adding to the excitement is the fact that Bart is coming with me to the gala! After all these years he’s finally going to meet a blogger or 103 and I know he’s very excited (even though he pretends to be completely horrified). Get those sweet cheeks ready, Bartolo!
Speaking of sweet cheeks, see that beautiful package up there? This was a gift from Tessa at Down That Little Lane that arrived by courier earlier in the week. There is nothing like an unexpected package to inject some excitement into the morning school routine. When I opened the box, I was genuinely stunned.
My very own “Maxabella Loves” Summer Svenson bauble – bursting with the cheeriest, Christmassiest spirit and a huge ego boost for my crazy little blogging self. I absolutely love it.
I met Tessa through blogging a few years ago, you know. I liked what she has to say on her blog very much and she liked my words right back and we chatted via our blogs for ages until one day we talked for reals. I have loved her dearly ever since.
In other news, I have new hair. You probs saw it already on Facebook, but I wanted to show it off again because new hair.
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – I’m definitely back reading again, which is fabulous. This week I knocked over The Descendants by Haui Hart Hemmings which was terrific but I wish George Clooney didn’t keep popping into my head because I absolutely wouldn’t have cast him as Matthew.
Writing – a little bit of spoken word poetry.Between the CR Avery workshop at Mullum and Eden’s adventures I’m a bit fascinated.
Making – a Christmas banner, soon to be revealed (hopefully!).
Wishing – I did sponsored posts on my blog so I could accept the free cleaning service recently offered. Gah!
Loving – my Maxabella Loves bauble to bits.
Wondering – why I sometimes forget that tomorrow is a brand new day.
Happy reading and enjoy your community.
x
