I’ve read a couple of super-good books lately and last night I shared this thought with our Facebook community:
There are two types of really, really good book: The kind that you are compelled to devour in one sitting and the kind that you keep puting down for a while because you just can’t bear for it to end.
Black Seconds by Karin Fossum was a ‘pause to make it last’ book for me; Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins was a ‘can’t stop reading’ book. And, of course, when I found out that Black Seconds was #6 in the Harry Sejer series, I did a little happy dance. Finding out that a book you love is one of a long established series is a kind of happiness all of its own.
I asked the community whether they had read a book that made them feel this way lately and so many of them had. I decided to turn their recommendations into a library list for us to print out and pop in our purse so we always have a list of good reads to find. If you read any of them, pop back in to let us know what you thought of it! Click the picture below to print your list:
With thanks to Vanessa, Vicki, Samantha, Carolyn, Emily, Jaclyn, Malinda, Alyson, Astred, Fiona, Michele, Lisa, Reannon, Lisa, Tegan and Helen for recommending some recent favourites.
Do you have some really, really good finds to add to the list?

You got me hooked on Liane Moriarty. I blame you for the lack of cooking and late nights I have been having lately… but I also thank you 😉 xx

Love a good list! I use the Good Reads app to keep track of the books I want to read next and to read up on what a book is about. So very handy. I actually already looked up a couple of books off your facebook status already 🙂

I really enjoyed The Girl On The Train. Just couldn’t put it down. Another great read was Still Alice.

fantastic list! I struggle to find the time to read books lately but I REALLY want to. Reading makes me so happy. I’d even read a bad book. I’m printing this list and am going to force myself to make some reading time. Somewhere, somehow….

Great list. I’d add Gone Girl and Season of Salt & Honey.

Thanks for doing this Bron! I’ve printed it off & marked all the Aussie books ( I’m doing Pip’s reading challenge this year) & will keep the others for next year 🙂

I am reading His Other House by Sarah Armstong at the moment and it is fantastic.
“Dr Quinn Davidson and his wife Marianna have endured years of unsuccessful IVF and several miscarriages, and Quinn can’t face another painful attempt to conceive. Marianna is desperate to be a mother and their marriage is feeling the strain. At a small-town practice a few hours from their home, Quinn meets Rachel, the daughter of one of his patients. Drawn to each other, it’s not long before they find themselves in a passionate affair and Quinn realises he must choose between the two women. Then Marianna announces a surprise natural conception, news that will change the course of all their lives.
Set in the lush Australian subtropics, this taut emotional drama poses questions about moral courage and accountability, and asks whether love means always telling the truth.”

This is great, thanks so much. I’ve got “book club” next week and I’m going to take this list along but in the meantime I’m getting the next Liane Moriarty out of the library!
