Instead of screens today… why not finger knit a teddy bear scarf?
Cappers recently taught me how to finger knit. Her friend Stella taught her. I am always grateful to clever little friends who show my kids how to do the things I can’t. Cappers is really interested in all things wool – knitting, weaving, crocheting. I better improve my skills!
To finger knit, all you need to do is weave a piece of wool through your fingers and then back again.
Then you pull the bottom loop over the top loop on each finger, pull the wool taut and then start again. Cappers will show you how in the video below!
There you go! Finger knitting scarves for all the bears and the buddies.
Do you like to do things with wool? What’s your fancy?
PS – There’s a typo in the video (I have written ‘taunt’ instead of ‘taut’, but you know what I mean and I honestly couldn’t be bothered to go back and redo it all just for an ‘n’…).

I can crochet but not knit. For the life of me I cannot teach my daughter to crochet past chain stitch. Bad, impatient teacher. Since we have plenty of yarn lying dormant we may as well give this a crack!

Have a go, it’s really fun. I’m making a belt (apparently). It’s actually really hard to teach wool things, I’ve found. Crochet is hard as it is! I can’t for the life of me do it!! x

I wish I’d paid more attention when my nana tried to teach me to knit! I can’t knit or crochet but thanks to Cappers, maybe I’ll be able to master the art of finger knitting!

I really want to learn how to crochet, but so far it alludes me. I am hopeless. My friend Jen is coming over in the school hols to teach Cappers, so I think I’ll get in on the lessons too! Maybe you’d like to come over for that, Sam?? x

Always amazed by craft outcomes! When I get home, I will post through images of some of the amazing things one of my son’s friend’s older sister’s (complicated, isn’t it?), has made for Phoebe out of those loom bands that we were ready to get rid of. A complete suite of vegetables – perfect for her Sylvanian families’ shopping ventures. I cannot even imagine how – super impressed with what girls like your Capper can do!

That sounds amazing! Please tag me when you upload the pics as I don’t want to miss them!! x

My sons year one class learnt how to finger knit last year. They all got right into it, even the boys. They were like a bunch of mini nanas sitting there finger knitting each morning. I think it’s kind of addictive!!

That’s easily the cutest thing I’ve heard all day, Cat! x
