So, this beloved blog turned 5 this week and we had a little celebration, which mostly consisted of me boring the pants off you by reminiscing about past posts but also consisted of me offering two fab Pip blogging prizes. The competition is easy to enter and it’s open until midnight tonight. If you have a blog or want a blog, Pip from Blog with Pip and Blog Yay! is definitely your gal.
Which is all well and good, but what’s this whole thing been about anyway? Why are we even here?
I’ve never been quite sure myself, but lately I’m becoming more sure. While for years I’ve been busy skating around a lot of different issues and things I can do, I have never quite put them together until recently. Now I know that the thing I most have to offer is the weird correlation of my pragmatic, organised capabilities and my creative, whimsical wonderings. Having a little bit of both in equal measure quite different, I think, and it means that the way I approach family life is a nice mix of the two.
So that’s what I’m mainly talking about this days and I’m thinking about it in terms of raising darling and daring kids in a warm and welcoming home. And cake, always cake. That’s what it’s all about for me and I hope that sits well for you too. Thanks for helping me celebrate so beautifully this week. As I said in my (rather fabulous, of course) April newsletter, I’m ready to get cracking on the next five years. So, hello, let’s go!
BTW, Cappers recently insisted on getting invested into Cubs hanging from a rope… my daring, darling girl. Only Cappers.
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – enjoying reading The Artful Year by Jean Van’t Hul which I won over at Penny’s lovely blog Mother Natured. Thank you, Penny!
Writing – to lots of deadlines and I keep getting distracted by all the ideas I have for my blog! Grrrr.
Making – sweet little clay habitats for our garden wildlife.
Wishing – I had the time to do my own beautiful bloggy magazine. Go Eliza and Bel!
Loving – Martine’s How to Parent in a Digital World ebook. As you can imagine, it’s just my thing right now!
Wondering – when the sun is going to come out. At this point even my spirits are getting wet!
This week our lovely guest hostie is Vanessa from Style and Shenanigans. Apart from the fact that ‘shenanigans’ is one of those words that I always, always manage to spell incorrectly (I had to redo the image above after writing it ‘shenanighans’), I absolutely love this woman! I had the good fortune of hanging out with Vanessa at Problogger last year and she is fine company indeed. Vanessa didn’t even seem to mind the fact that I have no interest whatsoever in either fashion or beauty. We found plenty in common, regardless. Pop over and meet her for yourself.
Happy reading!

I love that I’m not the only one that seems to have deadlines & gets distracted by other things… Lol
I don’t mind the rain, but seriously it’s crazy. I’d be happy if the weather would just pick temp & stick to it, well my asthma would be happier at least. Happy weekend lovely. xx
Oh I love your pragmatic organised capabilities and your creative whimsical wonderings. Your combination of darling and daring kids and cake is perfect. And I love that you love my book. Many happy returns on a wonderful achievement. X
I honestly didn’t know it was possible to rain this hard.
Brisbane is wet!
But it makes for a perfect night of sipping wine and reading blogs!
I love the first photo.
And this post is proof that what most people love about you is your words! Loving all the comments on your blogiversary post. Totally stalking them.

I am so looking forward to taking a look at what you’ve been reading and looking at, as well as the blog posts above.
What could be better than daring darling children, and cake? xx
Organised capabilities, whimsical wonderings, raising daring and darling children and cake – sounds like a recipe for success! Love your work, Bron! Bon weekend xx
Congrats on reaching that point where you know who you want to be and what you want to do! I am yet to reach that milestone, blog-wise, having taken it up again after a *very* brief foray into it a few years ago. I know that I want it to be writing related, with a few other bits and pieces thrown in – music, life in general, food… all while I attempt my novel in my “spare time”, haha! Yay for your blogversary 🙂
Well done you! I find you writing very comforting so ‘Yay’ to your pragmatic creativity (paraphrasing) – there is clearly a whole tribe of us out here that you speak straight to the heart of! XX
Ooh, a big congratulations!!! Indeed, you are a pragmatic, creative and beautiful person. Let’s all eat cake x
Happy Bloggy Birthday to you!!! Congrats on 5 years!
5 years is certainly worth shouting about . A big congratulations! Cake and as a Mum , your children and being a fantastic , positive parent are always good things to share (not necessarily in that order though ). I really enjoy reading what you write so keep up the great work. x
I’m so happy for you Bron and it is just awesome that you are finding your stride and are happy with your whimsical mix.
And you know I will ALWAYS join you for cake 😉 xx
