This week nothing much happened.
I baked a lot of lunchbox stuff for the freezer – banana bread, muffins, fake choc fudge, rusks and an amazing oat and blueberry slice that I’ll blog about soonest.
I wrote stuff for work. I have a new client and the writing is very boring, but it’s work, right?
I cleaned the house over and over.
Yawn.
Some weeks, huh? It’s a good thing I’m embracing the gold in the everyday… all the embracing. So much embracing.
I liked this.
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – After a week of no reading, this week I’m back on with The Memory of Running by Ron McLarty and my goodness, I love it. When I think of this book I think of a crowded room full of overbearing extroverts all fighting on and on over who is right and then the quiet guy in the corner clears his throat to speak…
Writing – I have set myself an actual deadline for the Screen Freedom War and Peace Trilogy (at this stage my little ebook will be joining this list) and I am publicly announcing its arrival mid-late July. So there it is. Mid-late July. I can’t get any more specific than that.
Making – more paleotastic snacks. But I think I’ll stop now.
Wishing – that money didn’t make the world go around.
Loving – House Rules. Even though none of the contestants are even remotely good at interior design. The ugliness of the homes is beyond entertaining. Plus I really like the idea of a kind man like Steve getting some air time. And Ryan’s muscles. And Danielle’s five-year-old hairstyles. And Tiana’s embellished T-shirts, I mean, where do you even shop for one embellished T-shirt, let alone a collection?
Wondering – what Helsinki is like at Christmas. No, I really am.
Do this week’s guest hosties need an introduction? If you haven’t met the mesdames from the champers-sipping association, then I suggest you slide on over. Nice, witty, sassy, surprising and rather glam (even though they pretend they’re not glam). Oh and smart. Very, very smart. Pop over and say hai.
Happy reading.

What do you think Helsinki would be like at Christmas?

Sounds like a great week! I could use a getting-on-top-of-things week like that. But I wouldn’t recognise it while it was happening, so meh.
Love that sign too. I read, therefore I am not train. Brilliant.
Amy @ HandbagMafia says
Blueberry slice sounds super appealing!
Carolyn @ Champagne Cartel says
Are you going to Helsinki for Christmas? That would be pretty exciting! I am writing a lot for a bank at the moment and, like you, am struggling to feel inspired. But work is work, and working is great. Thanks for having us on the Rewind, lovely. xxx

Funny you say that – I just saw stunning photos of Helsinki – so if you ask me, it would be very cold but absolutely beautiful!!

I love mundane weeks full of normal boring stuff, gives me time tofocus.
Happy weekend!
Gael - The Vinyl Edition says
My dream is to take the kids somewhere for a white Christmas. I hadn’t actually looked at Helsinki but I did research Lapland and New York. Still a dream.
Sammie @ The Annoyed Thyroid says
Sounds like a week of awesome – hope the good vibes continue long into the weekend. Can’t wait for the blueberry recipe! Noms!
Dannielle@Zamamabakes says
Loving the sounds of all that baking!
I need to address some homemade goodness for the lunchboxes here too.
Have a great weekend lovely lady! xx
Sueanne @ Call me Suzie says
Goodness, I just Googled average weather temps for Helsinki in December… -4… Although a touch cool (Ok. Cold.) it would be absolutely stunning is my guess. And quite frankly, possibly more appealing than what the weather will be like in Townsville, which is where we will be heading 😉 x

Those weeks are just perfect, in between all the crazy, aren’t they? I’ve been reading your gorgeous Georgia’s book Bron, and it’s soooo good!!!
Have a beautiful weekend x
Mother Down Under says
I am back into real reading too…I just finished Burial Rites which I loved…next up is Misconceptions.
And I have found myself tuning into Reno Rumble…wondering what my brief would be, and wishing that someone would come and give me a new house!

Everything you’ve been baking sounds amazing. I wish I had that in my freezer!
Min@WriteoftheMiddle says
Your week sounds just lovely to me. I like boring – well not boring but pottering and regular domestic stuff. I watch House Rules only for the reveal nights. I’ve been more invested in Reno Rumble. Some nights when neither is on – I watch Masterchef. Either way – I manage to keep up to date with them all! LOL Have a fab weekend Bron! xo
Vicki @ Boiled Eggs & Soldiers says
I think Helsinki would be cold at Christmas, no? But fabulous you couldn’t get much more of a white Christmas than that could you? I’m loving all your baking and am adding your fake choc fudge to my list of things to try (when I feel better after too much wine at book club last night!). x

House Rules. You know, I wouldn’t even have a clue if they can design or not – I do know it looks a darn sight better then if I tried to do it. I’m trying to work out a way to get someone to come in and re-design my house without me doing any of the work. Maybe I should stoop so low as to Reno Rumble.
I love the train sign!

Embracing the gold is such a good motto – and I do love that sign! x
Tash @ Gift Grapevine says
I too write for a client whose work doesn’t fulfil me creatively (IT technical stuff isn’t overly exciting!). But I suppose having our own little corners of the interweb makes up for that!! Have a lovely weekend and I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled on your blog for that oat and blueberry slice! Sounds delicious.
Natalie @ our parallel connection says
I couldn’t read that sign.. Does that mean I’m a train.. Lol
Vicki @ Knocked Up and Abroad says
I’m envious of all your lunch box snack making. I have been trying to make sausage rolls to go in the freezer for yonks for when Vick baby arrives and it just isn’t happening…. if only I was more orgnanised or motivated or somethin’. I think I’m slowly drifting into a preggie coma. Boring weeks are there to recharge for the manic ones. Embrace it.
Lauren @ Create Bake Make says
We had friends who went to Helinski for Christmas last year and while they loved it they said it was ridiculously cold – which i guess is to be expected! My sister in law is taking her kids over there this year for Christmas and I know they are not going to cope with the cold as they live in Darwin and complain it’s freezing when they visit us in Brisbane!
Jenni from Styling Curvy says
House rules is a dogs breakfast but at least this seasons contestants are nicer and there’s no blazing rows
Robyna | The Mummy & The Minx says
I have lovely friends that moved to Iceland for a couple of years. I would say a lot of snow, ice and alcohol would be involved if an Icelandic Christmas can be compared to a Finnish one.
Jules @ toddlers plus teens says
That train sign is awesome . I think my last big baking session was lemonade scones , pumpkin soup and sticky date pudding . Don’t even get me started on house rules and the way they portrait our city as being isolate . There are some very upset people around atm and the mear mention of house rules could be dangerous . X
Sarah @ Tomfo says
Awesome, love that sign you found, awesome, did I already say that?
Every time I visit here, it reminds me to get in the photo, thank you lovely x get in the photo constantly pops in my head because of you x
Kathy says
Sounds like you’ve been pretty darn productive Bron, so that’s a great week. Loving that train sign. And looking forward to the Blueberry slice recipe (and the House Rules finals).
Karin @ Calm to Conniption says
Bland weeks of just getting stuff done are sometimes the best. As long as they don’t go on for to long 🙂
I am very much looking forward to mid-late July then for your e-book.
Happy Weekend, what is left of it.
Julie @ Off to the park says
We’ve had an exciting week of….what for it…..german measles!!! Hooray for us!! 🙁 I’d rather your week of baking, sounds yum, and even working! I have been looking for work but finding it a little difficult after taking 6 1/2 years off my career. 🙂
