I was not a good host last week – I think I managed to visit four blogs in total, which I randomly chose based on where my mouse landed. I know that’s not good enough, but I figure you guys understand that some weekends just aren’t conducive to blog reading. I’m ever-so grateful to my co-hosts, Kel and Son who share the visits and make it fun. Hello lovely laydees! That said, they are also a bit burnt out lately and we’ve all decided to take a little break from rewinding until 30 July. So hello, this is our last #weekendrewind for a few weeks. I will visit each and every one of you – probably way more than once!
Incidentally, did you hear what happened to Sonia during the week? Oh my freaking, I would die if that happened to us, but Son just takes it in her stride. She’s such a good one. And I know we are supposed to just say “it’s only money” but it’s not, is it? It’s dreams and plans and hard work and us, really. But I think of Sonia and all that happened and I am reminded of this:
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – I spent the week reading my mum’s (who was visiting – hi mum, good to see ya!) Who magazines. I knew who about 50% of the celebrities were and I did wonder why the Kardashians featured on every single cover. It’s like they’ve taken the place the royal family used to hold in the eighties. I miss Diana.
Writing – I’ve been catching up on so much work this week – my fingers are sore from flying.
Making – plans for the holidays. I can’t wait. I’m ready! Don’t worry, you can be too!
Wishing – I didn’t say last week that I was moving beyond wishing because I really wish I could fork out for one of these.
Loving – this piece by Kelly on the 9 books that have made her a better person. They must be good.
Wondering – whether taking on more working hours is a good idea or not… will I sink? I’ve been sunk before…
Look at that gorgeous face up there – so friendly and open and smiley and kind. It’s Vicki from Boiled Eggs + Soliders and she’s just as nice as she looks. Oh and she makes really good food that the kids might actually eat too. Go see!
Happy reading.
x
PS – a reminder that the Weekend Rewind is going to be taking a little holiday in July. We’ll be back Friday night, 30 July. Enjoy your winter holidays. x
Do you have a second job (assuming ‘mum’ is your first job)?

Lol I feel the same about reading gossip mags. Who are these “celebs” ?!!?? If I don’t know who they are they mustn’t be famous, right?
Maxabella says
They can’t possibly be SOMEBODY if we don’t know who there are. No way. x
Vicki @ Boiled Eggs & Soldiers says
Thanks so much for your kind words Bron and for having me to guest host this week. I’m really honoured. One of my neighbours and I share a guilty little secret of reading the trashy mags and swap them with each other – I still don’t know who most of the people are though! I hope you have a lovely holiday. x
Maxabella says
Great idea to swap the mags. I quite like mum’s WHO, but I can’t say I’ve ever really read the others. x
Emily says
Enjoy the break from WR. I recently decided not to take on any more work. Then a great opportunity came up. I ummed and aahed but said no. Aaaargh. Can’t wait for Kelly’s next book so that comes a little easier!
Maxabella says
It just doesn’t come easy, does it? x
Zanni Louise says
A holiday sounds like an excellent idea! It must be winter – I feel a bit burnt out too. Happy holidaying and reading. xx
Maxabella says
Yep, it’s too cold for socialising. x
JodiGibson (@JFGibsonWriter) says
A well-deserved break for you all no doubt.
Second job? Well, my first job is mumming, my second job is writing/copywriting, my third job is accounts/office for husband’s tiling/building business, fourth job is blogging. I don’t want to calculate the hours, but I fit it in, and trying to get the balance right so I’m content and finding joy in each day. It’s not easy, but I feel I’m there most days.
Take care Bron and enjoy the holidays with your gorgeous ones. xx
Maxabella says
You are one very busy lady, Jodi. x
Alyson says
I totally get it! From time to time, I become very anti-IT and can’t even blog because I don’t want to do ANYTHING on the puter at all…which means I have the conundrum to deal with where one of my goals is to ‘heartbeat’ my blog, but don’t want to do anything on the computer at all…in actual fact, I’m sill writing, but not on the keypad. Is it another form of procrastination? I don’t know, which means highly likely…. 🙂
Maxabella says
I’m a born procrastinator, Alyson and I avoid thing when they get too hard. i do believe in shitting up shop from time to time, to regroup and revive. I like your idea of “heart beating”. You must tell us more about that. x
Kim @landofzonkt says
Oh it’s hard to keep up when life gets in the way isn’t it.
I’m so thankful for all you lovely ladies making such an effort to visit us bloggers, we understand & I think don’t expect it, but are forever grateful you do. xx
I am looking forward to a bit of relax over the holidays & hope you have a nice break even if it’s just from the rewind for a bit. x
Maxabella says
A little change in our weekly routine does us all good. x
KezUnprepared says
Oh I am going to miss the rewind until it’s back – but good for you guys – taking time you need.
And yeah, Son is amazing – what a tough blow and a terrible shock! x
Maxabella says
See you on the flip side, Kez. x
Mumma McD says
Besides mothering and blogging I work what is supposed to be 24 hrs (3 days) but ends up closer to 30 per week. And most of what I earn goes on child care *sigh*.
But I like working and one day everything will even out and at least I’ll still have current, in-demand skills.
Maxabella says
It’s a tricky one when work becomes an affordability issue. We absolutely have to look to the long term, though. x
Helen K says
Oh, I read this and thought – what a relief! One less thing that I need to remember to do (I don’t know how you all manage the popping in and reading so many posts, on top of everything else). As for me – I work, in theory, 34 hours a week (so about 4&1/2 days, over four-ish), plus am learning the art of blogging (currently via Blogging with Pip course after hours). Oh, and there’s my own family and broader family (including looking out for my grandmother while my parents are away), book clubs, social events, exercise that ideally I do, and the rest. Although I’m not on holidays, I’m relieved that the kids are – some down time from activities. And Son has been very good about what happened to her, poor thing. I hope it sorts out somehow!
Maxabella says
I love the change in routine that the holidays bring. I can see why you would welcome it, Helen. Lots going on at your place!!! x
Karren Haller says
Thanks for hosting this week, my first time to visit. Found you on The Pineapple Cake blog of parties.
I would love to have you stop by and share your links and posts on my Friday Features Linky Party #OMHGFF
Hope you have a great weekend, Karren
Maxabella says
Nice to meet you Karren. x
Kelly Exeter says
Love what you said about Son, she really has lost nothing …. But friggen hell, so gutted that she now has to spend so much time fighting to get back what she’s worked hard for 🙁
Maxabella says
Lucy @ Bake Play Smile says
I’m so glad you guys are taking a well deserved break! And poor Son – gee she takes it in her stride but it just must be so awful with her business launching too!
Maxabella says
It’s the kind of thing I think takes a very long time to recover from. I just hope they’ll be ok. x
Lisa@RandomActsOfZen says
A mid-year break is a great idea, especially with school holidays to enjoy.
My mum reads those magazines too, and she’s constantly sharing gossip that can’t possibly be true. And seriously, how many Kardashians are there?!!
Hope you get to spend some lovely time with your littlies, Bron x
Maxabella says
There are a great many Kardashians. I don’t know where they came from but I do know they seem to be multiplying at a rapid rate!!
Enjoy the hols.
x
Zoe Meunier says
Yep, life’s tough enough trying to get on top of the mum stuff, the work stuff and the personal stuff, without then having to deal with the kind of shit that Sonia is now going through. Definitely holidays required all round!
Maxabella says
I can’t believe we bumped into you in Targef. Day one of the holidays and I was definitely thinking “what am I doing in Target?!?” x
Natalie @ our parallel connection says
I’m ready for a holiday too Bron .. I hate winter in melbourne
Maxabella says
I’ve never been, but I’ll be in Melbs in Juky for a couple of nights so look out me!!! x
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
Enjoy the holidays Bron, I plan to spend all the time I have off with the kids… so far we’ve had a great first day together. Lots of laughs. x
Maxabella says
Hope the laughs keep coming, Em. x
Kate @ From Katie to Kate says
Oh Bron, being one of the four you did visit last week, I am so grateful, but also wanted to add I don’t think anyone expects you to read them all. Just hosting us all is enough. It’s a pretty big party! Have a lovely holiday.
Maxabella says
I was very glad I randomly landed on your post, Kate. You have a wonderful way of bringing cheer to all who read you. x
Bronnie - Maid In Australia says
I understand completely. Life is always getting in the way here. Pesky like that … Enjoy the break!
Maxabella says
I hope you enjoyed your visit immensely, Bronnie. x
Sammie @ The Annoyed Thyroid says
Bron you are the hostess with the mostest, I’m so grateful to you, Kelly and Son for hosting every week. I’m a little late to the party this week because we had a weekend away but I couldn’t bear not to link up because… FOMO! Hope the holidays are full of happy! xx
Maxabella says
Yay to weekends away!!! x
Dannielle@Zamamabakes says
Hey Bron
Sorry I didn’t get to stop by last week but life had caught up with me a bit too, that term ‘burnt out’ has been in my life for about the last 2 months. My mum told me how tired I look just yesterday, so guess what? Zadada and I have decided to take the kids away for a minication (2 nights in Brisbane to be exact) and we leave tomorrow (very spur of the moment), this Zamama is taking some quality time out for her little family and self. I’ll probably come home just as tired but it will be a tired from something different 😉
Have a beautiful weekend lovely lady xx
Kristy @ Loulou Zoo says
Glad you are taking a break Bron, I really don’t know how you do it! I’m very behind in my reading, although that seems to be the norm so perhaps I should stop saying that.
I have a day a week to “work” on my second job of blogging, managing our business accounts etc etc and it doesn’t seem to be enough really. But when is it ever?! he he That’s how I’m looking at things now..I know no matter what time I have, I’m the kind of person who will fill it up!
Have a lovely break and enjoy school holidays.
