Every time I open any social media app I’m reminded that I’m missing out. This isn’t FOMO, this is AMO – Actually Missing Out. And yes, I’m talking about Problogger.
I wish I was there, but the mean budget said no. It said “you can’t do both Problogger and Paris” and I’m sorry but there was no hesitation here.
I imagine that tonight’s #weekendrewind is gonna be a very quiet one. Quiet, but nice. I quite like a small party as I’m not that good in a crowd. Mind you, I would love to have been part of this crowd: Rockin’ 1000. A little town in Italy made a call out to the Foo Fighters to come and play for them by getting together 1000 rockers to play Learn to Fly. It’s amazing. I can’t stop watching the drummers all drumming together. It makes me tear up.
I hope all the bloggers at Problogger are rocking along just as merrily.
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – Down to Earth by Rhonda Hetzel. I’ve always loved Rhonda’s blog so I stole my sister’s copy and I am finally reading this!
Writing – still working through the secret squirrel stuff. I’m annoying, aren’t I!?
Making – the most delectable date loaf ever.
Wishing – I was at Problogger, natch.
Loving – this divine leather vest.
Wondering – why I don’t pick myself more often.
Have a lovely weekend and happy reading.
x

I’m having PB socializing envy- big time!!!
But the budget didn’t allow this time for me either. Ah well! That date loaf sounds amazeballs 🙂

Bron, that clip has had me smiling for the last week. I love it!! And I was so happy to hear Dave Grohl reply that they would definitely play. He is one of the good guys, I think.
I’m experiencing a bit of PB FOMO as well, but you can’t do everything.
Have a beautiful weekend xx

As awesome as PB would be (bloggers event virgin here), Paris would absolutely win hands down here too!
Have a lovely weekend, even if there is a bit of AMO x

I just had a read of Jodi Gibson’s post, and I’m now not sure if I am missing out or not re Problogger – I get really uncomfortable around the whole thought of ‘monetising’, etc, and I gather that would be a big part of it? Possibly it’s because I’ve always worked in government (and never had to ‘sell’ my product in that way). Possibly because hardly anyone else I know in real life actually reads blogs and they look at me blankly when I mention it – ‘who has time to read that stuff?’ (With the quick additional comment ‘of course, I love yours’ – which is nice, even if it’s not always true). It’s been quite confronting to hear this from people from a range of ages and different areas of my life – and made me wonder what I am hoping for with the blog. The ‘adding value’ conundrum is part of it (questions and solutions have been formulating in my mind as a result).
Plus, my only post this week was a ‘taking stock’post (a Blogging with Pip exercise (would it be ‘adding value’ to share this?)
But I do feel a bit of the missing out feeling, as our biennial industry conference is also now on and I’m not there – I love these times of catching up with colleagues. Ah well, will enjoy watching the ‘Foo Fighters’ – thanks for sharing! (And enjoy your delayed birthday celebrations tonight!) x

Hello lovely. I have found the connection and meeting people in real life the most awesome thing about ProBlogger. Whilst monetisation was talked about, there was more about believing in yourself, helping others and connection. Don’t worry about “adding value” – it’s about story telling. There is value in that.
Helen K says
Thanks Robyna! That’s really helpful, and also a relief (maybe I’ll have to go along next year) – love the fact you commented too, thank you!

Thanks for the drum

Whoops – Baby posted too soon, juggling child here.
Again – Thanks for the drumming link!! We recently bought a drum kit so love all things drumming here, you should see our 19mth old rock!! Must put up a video when I have a moment to spare.
Yes I too am at problogger in spirit all day, doesn’t help that a couple of bloggers I’d love to meet are there. And I’m only a couple of hours away, when I think of those who have flown across country, seems crazy I didn’t drive. Like you a money decision, in my case a new roof first, maybe next year:)

I am not missing out as I have been to one problogger and that was ages ago. Wrote about it here. I think 2011 and 2012 was the period I tried to put all the blogging conference info into practice and nothing worked..so to speak. I am not anyone other than me and if my voice isnt one which resonates with many I have come to accept that which is why this year I blog for me and am a happy every day blogger. The numbers at PB are just cray cray and so much is overwhelming for some people that they come away with different take home messages than those intended …but you know, it IS the best when you get to meet some of your peeps and I know THAT is much of the reason people like to attend these events. I’d take Paris too. Love Denyse x

Someone told me about FOGO recently…Fear Of Going Out!
I seem to be suffering more from FOGO than FOMO these days…or at least a serious case of can’t be bothered going out.
That being said, I do wish I was at Problogger. I could do with a bit hit of inspiration and that great blogger energy.
Have a great weekend!

I would have chosen Paris too! I am at PB and while it has been awesome, right now I’m enjoying a bit of down time alone. Boy do I need it. Lots of people is exhausting!
Nicole - Champagne and Chips says
A little disappointed I can’t high 5 you but Paris is totally worth it.
Mardi says
I am having lots of “Ahhh” moments and “yes, I will do that” moments and getting to meet a huge range of people at my first ever Problogger. But I totally get the whole Problogger versus Paris thing. I think you have made the right decision to tour L’eiffel, even though I would have relished your company.
Tash says
Paris will be amazing. AMO be gone! Have a lovely weekend Bron x
Emma - My Book Corner says
Paris?! Oh my – how wonderful!!
KezUnprepared says
Oh, yes. All the AMO, right? One day I will make it to a PB event. I am just quietly biding my time 😉

I wish I was doing Paris – I have FOMO of that!!
JodiGibson (@JFGibsonWriter) says
In the words of Ms Hepburn “Paris is always a good idea.”
Seana says
Well I was there yesterday and flew back today so AMO ATM. Speakers were terrific and socialising was a laugh and a half.
Cathy says
Well I hope you have a fab time in Paris 🙂 Well worth the sacrifice I think.
Robyna | the Mummy and the Minx says
I know you were missed at ProBlogger. I’d choose Paris too.
Malinda @mybrownpaperpackages says
Paris is a no brainer!! I am sorry I didn’t get to see you IRL though, maybe one day 🙂
shannon @my2morrows says
We missed you Bron but I’d totally choose Paris too! PB was awesome. The best part was connecting with other bloggers.
That video has totally made my day! Love love it!
Xx

Sorry to have missed you Bron – I would have loved to see you in person again. I was lucky PB was on home soil, so not so expensive, just the ticket price. Paris is going to be amazing (of course).
