We made some Alice in Wonderland invitations for Cappers’ upcoming 11th birthday. She’s totally into the idea of an Alice in Wonderland party, having devoured the books and the movie. Such is her devotion, when we were in London we even schlepped across town to visit the exhibition at the British Library. This will be a delicious theme for a tweenie birthday party!
So for Cappers’ 11th, we are going down the rabbit hole with Alice and friends (Cappers wants to be the Mad Hatter – she is not one to want to don a dress and white bow). These Alice in Wonderland invitations set the scene…We bought the little bottles from Kmart – $2 for 4 – and added an ‘Eat Me’ label.
Inside were a few Jelly Belly lollies and the actual invitation on a ‘cake’ background, because, of course, it was a little tiny cake that Alice ate that made her grow bigger and bigger and bigger. I’m hoping to recreate that scenario at the party on the weekend (all will be revealed…).
The paper doll cut out is from a vintage book. I have no hesitation in supplying it here for you to download because the original work is genuinely vintage and I am sure the copyright would be long finished. (It it’s not, do let me know and I’ll remove the printable!).

We hand-delivered all twelve of our invitations. The kids had the BEST time being ‘stealth mailmen’ and setting up little Alice and her Eat Me treat on the front doorstop before ringing the doorbell and fleeing. The ‘stealth’ part of the mission is debatable. One friend called me moments after the doorbell rang to RSVP yes and tell me she could hear the kids giggling from three doors away. Love ’em!
Can’t wait for the weekend (and yet, SO MUCH TO DO!)
Are you a fan of Alice?

How gorgeous. Those invitations are divine and I love the stealth delivery. Can’t wait to see what you are doing for the actual party.
I love this idea for an invitation. I am such a fan of throwing kids birthday parties and get caught up in creating a bit of magic. We all need a bit in our lives and kids are only young for such a short time. We are about to have a 14th birthday in our house and it is all changing now. Very different feel so enjoy the tween years. Happy Birthday to the birthday girl too.
These are so pretty! Sugarpuff had a Mad hatter Tea pArty for her 5th birthday earlier this year and it was oodles of fun.
Love this! So much. I swear I can hear the giggles from here, too! Can’t wait to see the full party post.
Gah! These are adorable- you’re so clever Bron!
Oh! Adorable! Such a good idea! I should try to cultivate an interest in Alice in Wonderland in my kids just so I can do that. lol. (OR I could have it for my own birthday…. that’s a thought….)
How sweet! This is such a lovely party theme, I wish I had it when I was growing up!
These are adorable, and so unique! I love that your daughter wants to be the Mad Hatter, what a cool kid!
So cute and inspiring! I’m looking forward to the pictures too! (and I saw you said Max is into Percy Jackson and spinoffs. If you’re ever inspired in that direction, I’ll be keeping a keen eye out ….)
