This week has been full to the brim with Lottie birthday goodness. She is suddenly nine. We had her traditional sushi train / ice cream / Vivid Lights birthday night on Tuesday. She loves to do the same thing every year and it suits us just fine. It’s nice of Sydney to turn on the Vivid festival for her, I think.
I’m loving: surprising my girl with ear piercing after school on her birthday. It’s something she has wanted for the longest time, but I always said, “Not until you’re ten.” I figured the day you enter your tenth year is long enough. She is rapt.
I’m enjoying: being a little more social. I have a tendency to nest into a regular pattern of behaviour which doesn’t involve a lot of ‘out’ time (but is very satisfying and fun nonetheless). Despite my hermitty inclinations, it’s always good to shake things up a little and go and explore.
I’m watching: we started in on Vikings on Netflix, but I’m not sure it’s for us. Will wait for a few more episodes before deciding.
I’m eating: like a pig at a trough, truth be told. Let’s just say I’m having a ‘cheat week’ this week… eek.
I’m reading: the latest Lunch Lady magazine.
I’m making: preps for Lottie’s Camping Party on the weekend. The weather is not playing nice, so I think it will need to be an indoor camping party. Which means I’ve basically been tricked into another over-large slumber party and I am soooooo not looking forward to that.
I’m discovering: that we really do just have to go with the flow. We can’t overthink the ‘what ifs’ because that just hurts your head and maybe your soul a little bit too. We just have to accept whatever comes our way and make the most of it. Plan a little, but not a lot.
I’m listening: to Ed and James belt it out in Carpool Karaoke. A think of wonder, really. You will have seen this, but watch again.
I’m planning: to have a very, very quiet Monday.
How you doing lately?

A camping party sounds fun! Hopefully it is only a bit of rain and you can stick them outside!

It’s not looking good out there… but we will solider on indoors. A big pile of girls on the lounge room floor pretending to sleep.

Thanks for sharing Bron. I think in Winter we have more of a tendency to crawl into our shells, good on you for trying to beat it. I started watching Vikings too and just couldn’t get into it (thought I would love it because I enjoyed Game of Thrones). Have a wonderful weekend x

I was the same – massive GOT fan, but Vikings is just a bit meh so far. Eye candy on point though

What a lovely surprise for her Bron, getting her ears pierced. You just stacked up a heap of Mum points there Hope the party girls keep it down to a ‘dull
roar’ for you! Bring on quiet Monday hey!

It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be done soon enough 🙂
Lottie has a rash on her ears because she reacted to that disinfectant spray you need to use. Oh dear. It has still not dulled her enthusiasm though.
Have a great weekend, Sandra. x

As you know I freaking love Vikings but get that its polarising. Suggestion – skip through to S2 where the polictical tension heats up and Clive Standen removes his shirt. Alternatively eshew it altogether and get your dose of medieval goodness from The Last Kingdom instead. Its a fast paced swash buckling adventure featuring leather pants.

I thought of you as I wrote this! We are going to stick with it for a while. We were actually slow to come around to quite a few shows we ended up loving, so Vikings is good for now!

Oh my god, how good is car karaoke! Love it.

SO GOOD. Adele and Red Hot Chillis are still my fave, but Ed is now up there.

We did the rain. 137 girls, 30-odd leaders and two nights under canvas. I got home about 4pm yesterday, helped a couple of fellas move a huge 1930s cupboard from my house and now I am on the train to work. Oh Lord, I am sore and tired. Give me strength.
Maxabella says
See, this is why you are a Girl Guide leader and I am not!!! I bow to you, Katie!!! x

Ed is just the ultimate and the best.
Ten was when I got my ears pierced and when I plan for Harlow to get hers done, too. She’s five and already asking though so not sure how that’s going to work out for me…..
Oh, and the cold weather is making me feel very “chips and gravy.” I don’t even particularly like chips and gravy.
