There’s nothing quite like having a family calendar with all of the school holidays highlighted.
Not to mention a clear indication of which school ‘week’ it is. Is it only me or does it seem completely ridiculous to others that schools talk about “Thursday in Week 5” rather than a date? Ugh, it drives me mental. I spend the entire year saying “What week is this? WHAT WEEK IS THIS?”
Well, thanks to this clever calendar, this year we will always know what week it is.
This year I’ve created a ‘family calendar’, rather than a straight calendar. My friend Sara made me one of these in Term 4 2017 and it was a game changer. An easy-glance look at who is doing what and when. As my kids get older, I am finding that I need a calendar like this more and more.
You can print off the pdf version and write your each of the names in the space at the top, or download the MS Word version, edit to include the names and print that. The MS Word version is fully editable.
Public schools in every state
I’ve made a calendar for each state, using the public school calendar. Unfortunately, there are just too many variables for me to make calendars for private schools too.
You can still get a school calendar fix, though. Simply download the MS Word version for your state and edit it to include the correct holidays for your school.

I hope your kids (and especially YOU) have a really great year in 2018. The only tip I have for a good back-to-school is to remind both yourself and your kids to get involved. The more we embrace our school community, the more it embraces us back.
