Recently my dear mate Pip Lincolne called and asked if I wanted to have a chat for a Kidspot Voices of Voices segment about building an online community and other fine stuff. Naturally I said yes. When the lady who penned the gorgeously positive Craft for the Soul calls, you should always respond in the affirmative. Because that’s what Pip is all about. Have you read it? You really should!
Do you listen to podcasts? I do! I’m totally into Serial right now – you could say I’m a late podcast adopter, but a quick catcher-upper! I also love listening to Al and Val deliciously rambling on about writing (they are up to episode 79!) and recently have found Brooke’s Slow Your Home Podcast – I am trying Brooke, I really am.
Of course right now what I’m really trying to do is distract your from listening to my big, somewhat loud, definitely booming voice on this Pip podcast. Can you see how I’m doing that? I’m totally doing that. Okay, jump, jump, jump on in…
But before you do, can I just take a moment to say thank you – yes YOU – for being part of the very online community that I’m chatting about? Because YOU are the reason that I love blogging and YOU are the reason that my life makes sense to me. So thank you very, very much.
Oh and you can totally play a cool drinking game while listening to this podcast. Take a sip every time you hear me say the word “absolutely”. You will be drunk within minutes.
Do you sound different in your head too?
In my head I am much more melodic and MUCH smarter.

I have been making breakfast and listening to your lovely podcast. So much rang true and made me feel better about not following a whole bunch of rules.

You’ve made my day already, Robyna. Thank you. x

Hi Bron, loved the podcast-was bit of a blog nerd & took some notes. Pumped out 3 draft posts last night after weeks of bloggers block. While listening to the podcast, I was reminded that I made the right decision in my blog being more about my writing & community than commercial sponsorships.

Go you! I think it’s hard to know what we really want when everything around us is telling us what we SHOULD want. x

I’ve listened to the start (couldn’t work out if I could save to the ipod, so will listen to the end at home, as I just finish up now at work) and how wonderful do you both sound????
I’m a sporadic podcast listening, but I am planning getting back to the gym once the holidays finish, and that’s when I listen (plus in the car to/from work). Today I’ve been listening to Brene Brown and Elizabeth Gilbert on Big Magic – two wonderful women (much like you and Pip!).
Btw – just gave my Craft for the Soul book away to one of my Queensland cousins last week. My cousin is the most generous, disorganised, and crafty / creative person you could ever meet (and is trying to work out a direction in life – so common in early 40s, with young kids, isn’t it?) – and not a reader (so it was extremely appropriate for her, because it is one of those books you can just pick up, take in a bit, put down, etc. And so conversational in style. She is LOVING it). Wondering if I really need to replace it or not – I’m trying to resist buying things, with birthdays and Christmas all ahead, but it is such a great book.

Now that I’ve read it, I couldn’t NOT have a copy. It’s definitely one for the shelf for me. I bought it for 2 friends of mine too and they have said it was life changing. Go Pip! x

Oh I love podcasts…I will definitely give yours a listen!
How good is Serial…I am obsessed. Once you finish, check out Undisclosed and I would say The Serial Dynasty is also worth a listen (I find the later episodes to be more interesting).
Limetown is gripping.
And I also occasionally listen to The Mortified Podcast and The Longest Shortest Time.

Thanks for the ideas, Caitlin. I think it’ll take me a while to get through Serial, although I’m considering adding a 50 minute walk in late at night just so I can focus! x

Maxabella says
That’s exactly how I feel when I’m writing my blog, Cathie. It’s lovely to have a cuppa together. x
